Falkenlust

Today is my birthday and to celebrate I'm doing a post about an unapologetically pretty place: the Schloss Falkenlust in Bruhl, Germany. Think of this bit of pretty fluff as my birthday cake shared with you!
Built from 1729 till 1740 in the German Rococo style, the schloss or house is a folly on the grounds of the Baroque styled Augustusburg palace built by the Archbishop-Elector of Cologne, Clemens August of Bavaria. The schloss was designed by the architect Francois de Cuvilliés around the same time as he designed the famous hunting lodge of the Nymphenburg Palace, Amalienburg, pictured below. You can see the influence.matching tea pavilion on the grounds
The Palace was recently opened to the public to view after years of private use as a state guest house for the president of Germany and I hope to visit one day!!
