Highpoint 2012: Van Thiel & Co.

While at Market, one company I was so excited about when coming upon it was Van Thiel & Co.

I had met the owner, Rudy Van Thiel, last market at a party hosted by Ralph Lauren Home but wasn't able to find their space like many others I always miss in the maze that makes up market. Don't you just love this perfect wood & brass umbrella stand?

Van Thiel has been dealing in antiques for over 40 years between 2 generations and began making high quality reproductions of their favorites so that everyone could share in on good design. Seriously - the quality is so high that you can't tell the difference between the actual antique and the reproduction.

While I love antiques and the warmth they give to a house, I have to admit to preferring high quality reproductions because they're simply more practical. They tend to be more economical, sturdy and even easier to find.

You also have the ability to customize the piece to your own liking: a little rougher, a little finer or taller/shorter.

I loved this little wine caddy.

And this "Mr Percy" bookcase is stunning! I love the green backboard.

How about this table for a kitchen island?

You know I love a game table, from past posts but this one has corner mounts for candlesticks which are included!

I love the tooled leather top and the finish of the wood.

This brass, glass, marble and wood server reminds me of something out of Maxims in Paris!

This Celine chest of drawers will probably find a home in my bedroom in my new apartment and I'm trying to think of a place for that Celine sidetable!

Is this not the most beautiful bookcase / breakfront you have ever seen? I love the architectural pilasters.

The Cabasset drinks table cleverly opens to allow for easier access -great for use beside a comfy chair.

Don't worry, they still carry real antiques as well, like this antique dome w/ original leaded glass. Be sure to keep an ear and eye open for this fine company, I think they're going places!
